I just found out that I have the cover image of Sport Diving again this issue (issue 149 – December 2011/January 2012).  The shot is of a soft coral porcelain crab (Lissoporcellana nakasonei) on a sea pen, taken in southern Komodo, Indonesia.

As their name suggests, this species of porcelain crab is more usually found on soft corals but presumably sea pens fill many of the same requirements for these animals.  Sea pens have quite a high diversity of associated fauna, especially of crustaceans.  On this trip to Komodo we focused on muck diving, since we were with an expert in the field, Graham Abbott of Diving4Images.  Sea pens frequent this type of habitat and they were bustling with life, allowing me to take this shot.

In the same issue of the magazine you can also find my article on the first part of our drive and dive road trip from Brisbane to Tasmania.
